Intriguing title right? I figured since this guitar was literally all different shades of brown, Chewbacca would be a fitting name; not to mention it’s gonna sound like a beast.
So I took some more pictures of the neck and fretboard. Gonna have to plane down a piece for the right ear of the headstock. Ill route the truss rod tomorrow and hopefully glue the neck as well. If I can do that then things will go much faster because I can make a template using the neck heel for the neck pocket. After that I’ll route the pocket then fit the neck, drill the mounting holes and finally install the new threaded inserts and bolts. These bolts look better than the huge T nuts and the threaded inserts were a recommendation from Joel Grant of Grant Guitars. I trust his input 100%.
With the neck mounted then I can do the final contour and rounding of the body and neck, routing of the pickups, and mounting of the bridge and ferrules.
The neck and the neck pocket are the two most important parts to ensuring the build goes fast. I really can’t wait because this guitar is gonna be beautiful; just take a look at the test finish piece with its 2 coat of teak oil.
I’m using teak oil because it ambers the wood a bit. Which in this case is very desirable.
