Roger “Da Codge” Valiant Model Completed

Damn this thing sounds great. The build has character and because it’s got so many unusual components it’s called the Codge. Codger usually means an “odd fellow” and just so happens to be the name that I knew Roger as in Med school before he graduated. It’ll be nice to get a guitar in his…

Rogers Build Saga Continues

But not in the way you’d think. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know the story already. For those who follow here well the long and short is the top started to spontaneously delaminate so I threw the whole thing into the bandsaw and started another guitar for Roger. It had to happen. Heres…

New Year | New Projects

Since Instagram became a thing for me I have neglected this blog considerably. It’s been about 7 months since my last post and even that post was delayed by some. Since the last post I’ve been featured in Shaper Origins “Shaper Origin in Action” community series which showcases Origin users and their experiences. It was…

Halloween Horror Story – Rogers Build Saga

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’d have read about my struggles with completing my friend Rogers guitar. First I screwed up on the finish and let the build sit for three years because I was so mad, then after painstakingly removing the finish with a scalpel I then proceeded to punch straight through…

“The Valiant” Serial Build #009

She’s got some fine detail and wiring work to be 100% perfect but she already sounds beautiful. McNelly’s Saint Nick HSP90’S sound incredible and can handle the cleanest of cleans and the dirtiest of dirty. It’s…

Ganesh’s Neck Template & Koa’s FB

I wanted to make a perfect neck pocket for Ganesh’s build and so I mapped it all out and started mounting the side rails for the router when it began to rain. I’ll get back to it on Sunday. Just the neck pocket, cavities and neck shaping left. It’s nearly complete!!! His Indian rosewood fingerboard…

Ganesh Rao’s Neck Fretted

This rosewood is looking amazing. Look at the figure and colors after the boards been sanded to 600. I applied two coats of odie’s oil and one coat of wood butter and buffed it till it shined. I then installed gold evo frets, man these look smart together.

I Hate Radiusing Fretboards

There’s nothing in the world of guitar building that I hate more than this. Now that I found a radius caul that matches the clamping caul I’ll just get my boards pre radiused and slotted. I don’t see a point in spending the time doing this. I might make a radius jig with Burris at…
